The role of Snam in the gas emergency and the energy transition
Massimo Derchi Chief Industrial Asset Officer Snam
Snam is the main European operator in the transport and storage of natural gas. On a mandate from the government, it is building two FSRUs, for a total regasification capacity of 10 billion cubic meters per year and has played a key role during the current gas injection campaign in storage.
Since years it is also playing an important role in the country's energy transition, with activities ranging from biomethane to energy efficiency and hydrogen; in the latter area, SNAM has launched several projects to assess the impact of hydrogen on all parts of its infrastructure (transport, compression, measurement, storage surface structures, etc.).
